our computer program to help create your resume! We have a program where
you can create your resume by simply filling in your answers using our SMART
2010 Resume Builder! A counselor will be on hand to answer any questions
along the way. An email address is needed for the workshop along with bsic
computer skills.

If you
already have a resume and would like it critiqued, come to this workshop to
learn how to improve your current resume.

Metrix Orientation
Metrix is
supplemental online training that is offered to our customers. There are
over 4,000 classes available. You will receive a username and password as
well as learn how to navigate the system to choose the classes that you
want.

599 and Classroom Training Workshop
Learn how the 599 program can benefit you in your educational
pursuits. To qualify for the 599 program you must be receiving Unemployment
benefits. Topics will cover local schools and programs, financial aid and
other available financial assistance.

Learning to Email Workshop
In this
workshop you will create an email account. You will learn how to email
other people and attach a resume to an email. You need basic computer
skills to participate in this class (typing and knowledge of the mouse).

This is an opportunity to meet with
local employers to get their advice and suggestions about obtaining a job in
their particular industry. They will discuss what skills, abilities,
interests and level of education are needed to work in the field. Call the
center to sign up for these events.

Interview Skills Workshop
Learn
tips and strategies for conducting a successful interview. Topics to be
covered include: preparing a portfolio, commonly asked interview questions,
behavioral interviewing and how to present yourself to a potential employer.

search strategies and resources, how to target your resume and cover letter
to get the job you want.

Advanced Resume/Cover Letter Writing
This workshop is for people who already have a resume
and would like to learn how to refine/improve it to match their desired
career/job.

Basic Computer Workshop
This workshop is designed for beginners. Topics
to be covred include how to turn the computer on/off and how to hold/use the
mouse. Where to find and how to use keys for basic computer
functions such as delete, undo, refresh, space and enter.
How to access the internet, a resume template and a job search site will
also be covered

Filling Out Online Applications Workshop
Learn the
latest trends and the importance of filling out online applications. This
is a hands on tutorial in which you will practice filling out an online
application. You need to have basic computer skills and an email address to
take this workshop.

Networking Group
This is a customer led networking group that is open to anyone
interested in building their networking contacts. Customers can share their
knowledge and experiences with others. Remember, the majority of jobs are
not advertised and are obtained by networking!

Introduction to
Microsoft Word
This workshop will teach customers how to use different functions in
Microsoft Word. Customers will learn to copy and paste, bold, underline,
italicize, insert pictures, adjust margins and much more.

The Civil Service Road Map
Learn how to navigate the NYS Civil Service website. Learn how to look for
and apply to upcoming examinations and job openings. Federal, state, county
and other public service sectors will be discussed. Hands-on computer
tutorial; basic computer skills are necessary for this workshop.

Information for the Vintage Worker
This workshop will provide tips and to
older workers on how to keep age from interfering with an effective job
search. Sections include identifying your skills, quantifying your resume
and avoiding common job search mistakes.

Job Club
This is a customer led group that is open to anyone
interested in sharing and building their job searching skills. Customers
can share their knowledge and experiences with others. Remember, the
majority of jobs are not advertised and are obtained by networking with
others!

Surviving a Layoff
Tips for
making your layoff more manageable. Topics will include: the grieving
process, financial preparedness, how to cash in on yourself and considering
a new career.

find your next job
Learn how
to navigate the New York State Job Bank (Job Central) to look for work,
apply to jobs and post your resume. Learn how to receive job alerts and
narrow your search criteria down to find the jobs you want.

Adult Career & Continuing Education Services - Vocational Rehabilitation

have a disability ACCES-VR may be able to assist you in finding a job or
receiving training. ACCES Orientations are held in the center every 1st
Thursday of the month at 2:30 pm as well as every 3rd Wednesday of the month
at 9:00 am
