Tailoring Your Resume Workshop

Learn the basics of creating a Master and a tailored resume as well as a cover letter to match your career goal. Learn tips to help you improve your marketability.

599 and Classroom Training Workshop

Learn how the 599 program can benefit you in your educational pursuits.  To qualify for the 599 program you must be receiving Unemployment benefits. Topics will cover local schools and programs, financial aid and other available financial assistance.

Metrix Orientation

Metrix is supplemental online training that is offered to our customers.  There are over 4,000 classes available.  You will receive a username and password as well as learn how to navigate the system to choose the classes that you want.

Learning to Email Workshop

In this workshop you will create an email account.  You will learn how to email other people and attach a resume to an email.  Basic computer skills needed (typing and knowledge of the mouse).

Interview Skills Workshop

Learn tips and strategies for conducting a successful interview.  Topics to be covered include: preparing a portfolio, commonly asked interview questions, behavioral interviewing and how to present yourself to a potential employer.

Job Search Workshop

 Job search strategies and resources, how to target your resume and cover letter to get the job you want.

Basic Computer Workshop

This workshop is designed for people who need to learn the basics of operating a computer.  Topics to be covered will include: how to turn on a computer and how to use the mouse.  No computer skills are needed prior to taking this workshop.

Filling Out Online Applications Workshop

Learn the latest trends and the importance of filling out online applications.  This is a hands on tutorial in which you will practice filling out an online application.  You need to have basic computer skills and an email address to take this workshop.

The Civil Service Road Map

Learn how to navigate the NYS Civil Service website.  Learn how to look for and apply to upcoming examinations and job openings.  Federal, state, county and other public service sectors will be discussed. Hands-on computer tutorial; basic computer skills are necessary for this workshop.

Introduction to Microsoft Word

This workshop will teach customers how to use different functions in Microsoft Word. Customers will learn to copy and paste, bold, underline, italicize, insert pictures, adjust margins and much more

Surviving a Layoff

Tips for making your layoff more manageable.  Topics will include: the grieving process, financial preparedness, how to cash in on yourself and considering a new career.

Learn how to navigate the New York State Job Bank (Job Central) to look for work, apply to jobs and post your resume.  Learn how to receive job alerts and narrow your search criteria down to find the jobs you want.
